Shine season is officially upon us, so we’re sharing our top three ways to give your red hair that unmistakable copper shine. These are simple, at-home steps that make a big difference to that gorgeous multi-tonal shine all red hair craves.
1. LEAVE IN SOME PRODUCT
A daily spritz of a lightweight leave-in conditioner spray adds in some much-needed moisture, smoothness and shine that is lost between washes. All that cold weather, warm central heating and friction from hats and scarves can wreak havoc on frizz and dryness.
If you don't have a specific leave-in product, just leave in a bit of your regular conditioner at the end of your wash (so just rinse out 80% of it).
2. APPLY GENTLE HEAT TO YOUR HAIR MASK
For an extra boost of moisture and shine, pair your weekly hair mask with a little warmth. Heat helps the ingredients absorb more deeply into the strand, making the most of the mask's luxurious ingredients to give you even smoother, shinier results.
For this, try:
• A warm towel
• A heated/thermal cap (like used here)
• A plastic shower cap (the steam creates humidity)
Even one treatment a week can help your colour look more vibrant and shine much more light-reflective.
PS if you use our Henna & Rose hair mask for redheads, henna is activated by heat so can help to boost that red colour at the same time!
3. FINISH WITH A COOL RINSE
Just a 5-10 second cool rinse at the end of your wash helps the hair cuticle lie flatter, so it reflects more light. It’s one of the fastest (and totally free!) ways to add instant gloss to red hair.
These small tweaks will help your red hair shine brighter than the fairy lights this season!
